Oct. 8th, 2018 09:33 amSaturday we attended an SCA event locally. During morning Court, they called Wes's name.
He went before the Crown and began to tell the story of Peter Pan and Wendy, and how she would sew his shadow back on for him. When she finished he was so happy that he flew and laughed and crowed. When he exclaimed he was pleased with himself, Wendy became quite put out. Peter tried to cajole her and eventually told her that one girl is more use than twenty boys.
Wendy said he was perfectly sweet and that should would give him a kiss if he liked. Peter, not knowing what a kiss was immediately held out his hand. Since he doesn't know what a kiss is, she gives him the thimble so as to not hurt his feelings.
Wes told the assembled populace about how many times I have sewn his shadow back on for him, and how much he loved me for it. He told them that after having loved me for so long, we finally were going to formalize our relationship with the State on Halloween.
Then he had me called into Court and he gave me a box, which had a tiny thimble in it. It has a tiny mouse, peeking out from behind a pumpkin. I have a mouse on my Heraldic device, and we're getting married on Halloween, so it's absolutely perfect.
He said he couldn't promise not to lose his shadow again, but he wanted me to have the kiss so I could sew it back on for him again.
I almost ugly cried. I kinda really like this guy.
