Happy New Year!!!!

Spent New Years at my In-law's house watching fireworks on TV in downtown Dallas.

Got a kiss from the TMF at midnight.

Went home and went to bed.

Yeah, it's a non-stop party lifestyle here.

Woke up at noon, hurried through a shower so we could do the traditional New Year lunch with the in-laws. Ham for health, black eyed peas for luck, and cabbage for wealth. I had all 3, so I should be good for the next 12 months.

That's funny; another Texan LJ friend described the same dinner and what it was for. I guess it's a Southern thing. :)

Our New Year's was very quiet as well. I'm reading that a lot of my f-listers did the same. It's crazy to go out and party on New Year's nowadays. :)

I knew black eyed peas were good luck but wasn't sure how or what. This is the first time I heard the full meal. Sounds like to me what is available as staple items and what would grow in winter time. How are black eyed peas? I have never eaten them. Are they similar to another type of bean?

TMI - If I had that meal, well I'd be not running out of gas any time soon. Pa dum dum.
