Dad Update
Mar. 18th, 2009 04:55 pmOkay, I've talked at length with Dad and I feel marginally better about his decisions. Marginally.
Prostate cancer is one of the slowest growing cancers in the body. Dad apparently caught his super early. He told me that his Doctors agree that had they caught it near this level, 5 years from now, they wouldn't even treat him because he'd more than likely die of old age before the cancer had any effect on him.
Dad wants a consult from a Doctor in Oklahoma City. Fine. We can go there. Dad wants to look into the option of treating this with radioactive pellets. His cancer hasn't spread to the whole prostate yet, it's only on one side. There's a better than good chance that the pellet treatment could kill the cancer cells without having to do surgery.
This would be awesome.
Dad also said that he could actually go a year or two without doing anything really, and still be okay.
Cue Sorcha's squashing of that little plan. Slow growth doesn't mean nonexistent. And pretending something isn't that bad doesn't make it less CANCER.
I think Dad's a little frustrated with me and my Brother. We've turned into a couple of nags and I think it's driving him nuts.
