Dad's Situation

Got this email just a little while ago from my brother.

Well this man is getting very difficult. He said he wants to go through the VA
to get a second opinion. He doesn’t want the surgery he wants to wait a few
years and get tested again....... The doctor at Sheppard did not really give an
opinion he said if the urologists recommend surgery then that’s what he would
do. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If you have time make sure he is not
trying to postpone this surgery because of mom. If he is worried about someone
taking care of her tell him I will fly up there and take care of her while he is
having the procedure. I will call him again in a couple of days to talk to him
more since I called him late last night and we didn’t talk long.

Why does he not want to take out the bits and parts with cancer!!! Wait a few years?!?!?!?! If the cancer doesn't get him first, I may kill him myself. Looks like a visit to Mom and Dad's house is in order this afternoon.

::Hug hug:: how old a man is he and how severe is the cancer? Sometimes there's no rush to cut and burn, other times it's critical. I hope he gets the treatment that he needs!!

He's in jis late 50's and as far as I know, it's early stages. But there's no guarantee there, because he wouldn't tell me the truth if it was further advanced most likely. I'll grant that there's no urgent need to cut and burn, yet. And I'll even go for second and even third opinions, visits to the VA, and discussions of options. But waiting a year or two isn't going to make it better.

No kidding. It's really easy to procrastinate and put off the inevitable, insisting on 3rd and 4th opinions, wasting valuable time while the situation just gets worse. I'd be tempted to do that myself unless the doc told me to operate tomorrow or else. Good luck getting him to face the music (and here's hoping they can find some good options for music ;)!!
