Virginia made a comment to Tandy the other day about us going north for Ostara circle this upcoming Sunday. Virginia is working at a Groomers, and to say that the lady who owns the shop is weird is a clear understatement.

See, this lady, we'll call her R, is the reincarnation of someone who lived 600 years ago, was a druid priestess in said former life, and is being haunted now by her past life lover, Duncan.

Not weird enough? During one of the druid circles, 600 years ago, moon men came to the circle and mated with the druids to produce an enlightened race.

R knows Virginia is Pagan, knows that I am Pagan, and knows we have occasional circle. She wants to come to one. But not because she wants to re-embrace her druidic roots. No, she wants to see how different modern day circles are compared to the ones she used to attend, 600 years ago.

::facepalm::

When Virginia got the point that in R's opinion we should be chanting the ancient spells in traditional Gaelic, I had to stop her. I was torn between banging my head on a wall to drive out the stupid or tracking this woman down doing a little gene pool cleaning.

Um...I would like to know what happened to the enlightened race. I think maybe we may need more moon men to come down and violate some of us.

I'm assuming this should be easy to do because along with the the Gaelic spells, we're all supposed to be naked with flowers in our hair right? ...or am I just thinking of the 60's?

I also would like to point out that 600 - one 0 = the 60's. Perhaps she indulged a little too much in her youth...

...either that or she's perming dog's fur and her shop has poor ventilation...

But can R even speak Gaelic? I need to know. I really love the big hypocrites. They make me feel much better about myself. I chomp these people with the power of academia.

Fun stuff to mock her with: No Druids were practicing 600 years ago. The ancient Druids probably died out before 600 CE. In the late 16/early 1700s, there were Antiquarians beginning to try again, but they were more like the Fraternal Order of the Rampant Moose Lodge than any actual robed pagans. Moon Men? At least use Tuatha de Danaan, or something that pertains better, for Pete's sake. Gaelic was not static, any more than English, German or French. The Gaelic, P or Q Celtic, that is spoken now is not the same that was spoken even a century ago - let alone 600 years ago, or 1500 years ago.

And I would not let this woman anywhere near my circle. No way. No how. She's too busy caught up on her own power trip to see the beauty in what you do, or to be of any aid or use while in the ritual. But it might be fun to make her cry!

::grin:: I study Hutton and Rolleston, among others.

And Professor Hutton's new book should be coming out soon! ::groovy Snoopy dance::
