And at 2:30 this afternoon I found out Dad has prostate cancer.

Beginning stages, says Dad. And they're talking about taking it out. But he wouldn't have told me at all if I hadn't stopped by to get my mail. Doesn't like to inconvenience us.

::facepalm::

On the other hand, Virginia found my phone. Right in damn near plain sight on my floor where the cats knocked it off my dresser. And deader than a doornail.

So, while I have solved one issue, I am granted another to deal with.

My uncle had prostate cancer a few years back and had to have it removed... he's completely fine now.

He has 2 Doctors. Doc #1 is for removal. He hasn't had an appointment for Doc #2. I'm all for yanking nasty cancer thingies out of one's body, if possible.

Know that I'm thinking about you. Beginning stages is good for catching it now. Only advice I can give is have that think yanked asap.

My grandfather has prostate cancer. By the time they realized he had it, since he's one of those that hates doctors, it was too late. When they went to remove the prostate, it had crystalized, meaning the bad cells had spread.

He had chemo and radiation and was in remission for 4.5 years until it came back. They don't know where the cancer is in his body and have him on hormone therapy which will prolong his life another 15 years. I believe the first place prostate cancer likes to spread to is the bones. That is very painful when that happens, so I would opt to get it out asap before it has the chance to spread.

Let it be know that he's doing fine and has no pain or side effects from the prostate cancer. He still has the cancer, but they don't know where and it's really not effecting him at all. Good luck. If you need anything, let me know.

My sisters dad has this, and he is doing great. Prostate cancer is notoriously slow moving, so if they get it in the beginning stages (as your dad has) chances are he will die of old age or a zombie attack before he dies from the cancer.

It is very managable, treatable and containable.

::hug:: aside from that, no one wants to have a loved one with cancer. I wish you the best and my thoughts are with you.
