Endow a chair at my Alma Mater.

Make a grant to the Center for the Arts the next town over to continue the live music performances they've been funding with a federal grant that's due to run out next year.

Stupidly give at least part of it to someone who doesn't deserve it to help get him out of his parent's home and into his own life.

Because, you know, I'm a moron. But at least I'm a moron who KNOWS myself. /snort. I'd offset that by giving the other half to someone who does deserve it to get out of their hole they're actually working on. or split it up among a bunch of people, I mean, hell, 5mil could get a lot of friends out of hock =)

I'm torn between setting up a charitable foundation, or giving it to an already existing and worthy charitable foundation, or setting up a scientific research foundation (or helping an already existing one). Probably I'd go half and half between charity and research. The question is whether I'd want to run one myself or let someone else do it.
