I've been asleep all day. I took one of TMF's Trazadone last night, but didn't get to bed until 1:30. As my post related, the cops were on our porch at 5:30 this morning letting us know our neighborhood might flood.

Thank you, Officer Obvious.

When TMF woke up at 11 this morning I had a massive headache. So I ended up staying in bed until 2.

So, the bad news. I've been out during this time surveying the damage so far. Yes, the flood waters have reached my yard. I had 2-3 feet of bank yesterday. It is now lapping against my fence.

There is water in the shop, I am certain. The front of the shop always floods in heavy rain, so we're expecting that. And of course, it hasn't really had any time to drain off. I suspect the creek may be pushing the back edge of the shop, but I am not coordinated enough to get back there.

Pictures 1 and 2 are the rise so far. I could very easily stand at my fence and fish.

Picture 3 is the other side of the creek. It's in his yard now.

Pictures 4 and 5 are of the drain out back. It's not raw sewage, although it smells like it.

Now, the good news. We were supposed to have an 80% chance of rain yesterday. We did not get it. It was supposed to be raining today. It hasn't. Matter of fact, the sun is shining. Somewhat sporadically, true, but it's shining and the clouds are breaking up.

In case you were wondering, and I haven't mentioned it before, I do have flood insurance. But I also have come to the realization that I have distinct priorities when it comes to the things I am getting out of the house first, should we have to evacuate.

For those of you who were local, I have pics of the river and the spillway on Holiday creek I intended on getting uploaded, but to be honest, my mind is a little distracted right now. I'll upload them later, abd probably with comparisons of what they normally look like, once this has all gone down. Here though are some pics some of you will recognize...

.... damn.

You guys look far worse off than we do. We've got some really bad spots, especially around the lake, but for the most part, the city isn't underwater (though there was an amusing Gradesall that was -buried- in the mud at a construction site, I should get pics of that).

I think it's because of where we are, for some reason the worst usually passes around us to either side.
