Just got back from Lawton and Gene's place for Lammas ritual. TMF, Demon, and I all piled into the car, with Loki, and made the trip. It wasn't hot, but it was damned humid. Like, wring water from the air humid. And not much of a breeze at all.
We picked about a gallon of blackberries from the wild vines on Gene's property. Now we're debating....a good Vodka, a good Rum, or add them to one of the bottles of mead we have in the fridge?
As I said, Loki went with us. And he was an amazingly good puppy. He stayed with me when I went off into the woods to pick blackberries, and didn't wander. Although he's so small, he'd be circling me, and when I would look, he'd be missing....only for me to find him just behind me. So we decided any further wanderings will include a bell of some sort.
He was friendly with everyone, and there were about 30 people there. There were kids screaming and running around, and when he came into contact with them, he licked and wiggled....but never got out of control. I was a little worried about how he would handle kids, and when he gets to rambunctious playing...he might be a little rough for them, but he was amazingly well behaved.
He was handled by almost everyone, got loved on more than one would think was possible, and even attended ritual with us. He sat at my feet when I put him down, he had a small lick of sparkling apple cider and a bit of the harvest bread. The only time he had an issue was when they congratulated someone on loosing 60+ lbs and began clapping and yelling. Then Loki, who had been sitting at my feet, got a bit freaked out and tried to run out of circle, but I managed to catch him without much drama.
He even saved his business for after circle and hugs. On the way back to the house, he stopped and took care of those little things puppies need to do.
One of the issues we'd been having with Loki was his getting car sick. Before we left I fed him a dog stress pill that basically amounts to small amounts of Chamomile, Valerian, and Ginger. He made the entire hour and a half trip without once getting sick. On the way home I fed him another and again, he settled down on the seat between me and Demon and chilled.
All in all, it was an excellent day compared to the last couple of days I've had. I'll try and journal about the migraine that didn't die from Thursday and the 6 hour ER visit from last night....tomorrow.
